Resources - Industry Leadership

True leaders innovate and actively lead their industries, as USA Hosts has done since 1958. Through local and national participation, USA Hosts leaders have influenced literally every major enterprise in the DMC and event planning industries -- beginning with the name "DMC", and extending through technological, quality assurance and strategic innovations. From the early days of inbound receptive operators, tour operators and group planners, we have evolved and joined with other service-oriented companies to create the respected -- often essential -- role of DMCs.

Thanks to DMCs, destinations around the world offer measurably greater experiences for group travelers. Along with professional tour guides, transportation companies, restaurants and unique venues, DMCs combine join with front-line services such as hotels, airlines and rental cars to enrich the experience.

On a local level, our managers take on leadership roles for their Convention & Visitors Bureau, and local chapters of ISES, NACE, MPI and Society of Association Executives. We support community and nonprofit organizations as well, providing services and expertise for fundraising events. Throughout the country, our people help make a difference for organizations such as Make-A-Wish, Rotary Club, Hanna Boys Center, Susan Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, and countless others.

Nationally, our executives are recognized leaders in Association of Destination Management Executives, with USA Hosts Chief Executive Officer Terry Epton the only 2-term President in ADME history. Both Epton and President Jim Germain are multi-term board members for Society of Incentive and Travel Executives (SITE), and have played leading roles in Europe's IMEX and EIBTM shows, as well as IT&ME (The Incentive Show).

Vice President Karen Christensen is prominent with PCMA, HCEA and at major trade shows, including IT&ME. Director of Latin America Sales & Marketing, Enrique Sanchez, has been acknowledged by Turistampa, Mexico's most influential tourism and hospitality publication, as the most important DMC leader in the U.S.

Business involves more than just making a profit. It includes leadership and contributions to our industry. It involves giving back to our local and national communities. And it involves personal commitment to our clients, to deliver exceptional experiences in every destination, every time.
